It depends how much money Machi needed, if it was an extreme figure that he couldn't have anticipated/saved for, then it makes sense (and that was teh sense I got of it)...but it is frustrating that they never say what exactly he needed it for. Especially since it's something that Lamiroir seemed unaware of.
