Name dropping, game, and canon hate question here from a reg, so I'm not asking this to wank on the comm. I'm genuinely curious.

Do name drops here affect whether you'll rp with someone or associate with them ooc? How many deets do you need for it to make a difference? What type of wanker are you most likely to avoid, drama queens, creepers, flakes, etc?

If there seems to be a ton of drama in a game or it has shittastic mods, does that affect whether you'll app there if you have friends who play there, too? Have you ever considered a game only to change your mind based on deets you saw in this comm?

Does anything somebody has to say about a canon affect whether you'll play from it or whether you'll play with people who play from it?

Gather round my dear anons,

Let me tell you a story about a fanfic writer.

Once upon a time, there was a fanfic writer. She wrote all sorts of sick dark and twisted things. Things that dealt with psychological trauma and other not nice subject matter.

Now, this fanfic writer, she put up all SORTS of warnin's on her fanfiction. "This fic contains ___" "Be aware there are _____" "This fic touches on the subject of ___" and the likes. Why, I do say she put up some mighty fine, clear, and concise warnings at the beginning of every chapter.

And ya know what happened children?

Why yes, y'all guessed right, she got flamed. Oh lord mighty the flames were quite the thing to behold. Yellin' and hollerin' and causin' such a stir about the very subject matter she warned them about.

And can y'all bright and clever anons figure out what she did about those flames?

She laughed.

You see children, no matter how many warnings you put, say, like warnings about a hate community and the contents that go on there? Well, no matter how well you warn people, they're still gonna read it.

Now I know it don't make much sense. People gettin' mad about the content in a hate community no matter how properly warned they were when it simply isn't that hard to just not click "read comments" or to understand that, as a hate community, this place will say some mighty mean things, but there's some things that simply can't be explained.

And that's why anons, whenever this mighty fine community gets accused of such and such or this and that, I want y'all to remember that fanfic writer.

Now you have a mighty fine day now, ya here?

For me? It all depends. What some people find annoying, may not be the same for everyone.

Muns:

I would take a flake or someone who is seriously self-centered over say someone who is a creeper. Cause in my experience, someone who is a flake or even a little bit of a drama queen, that can tone down/change with age and experience.

I've rarely if ever, have seen someone labeled a creeper change their attitude.

Fandoms:

To this, no, not at all. I will like/watch/read whatever I please with the understanding that not everyone is gonna like the same things (shocker I know). And while some fandoms have their batshits (Marvel comes to mind atm) there are some lovely gems and more often than not, the majority of a fandom isn't THAT bad.

Games:

For games, I would need some serious deets. Especially regarding the mods. Wank comes and goes, cliques are subjective, fandom fads are a revolving-door. But mods? Shitty mods make it REEEAAALLLY hard for me to play at a game. Because if you can't trust the mods, you're sort of left between a rock and a hard-place if you need them.

depends on the name drop. i ignore stuff without deets as grudgewank or self dropping to test the waters. if there are plurks of them sperging or being assholes will prob avoid. i'll avoid all of the above if they're bad enough.

mods more than game drama. shitty mods make for shitty games ime. idc if people can't get along if they leave me out of it.

idgas what people say about a canon. if i like it enough to play from it i play. not involved enough ooc to care what other people do.

if namedropped players or games keep cropping up again and again with the same issues (with deets), then yeah, I start to keep a mental note.

fandoms idgaf

cool story bro

For muns: It largely depends on what was done, if it was just once or if there are multiple instances, and if there's proof. I won't avoid someone because one or two anons wanked about them, but if there are links or caps of them being absolutely unreasonable, obnoxious, crazy, etc, then I probably will avoid them.

For games: Pretty much the same as with muns. If there are a lot of wankers, I'll avoid it, and if the mods are among them, I'll avoid. Again, proof is needed.

For canons: I may avoid specific players who've been shown to be creepy/shitty/obnoxious, but no, it generally won't discourage me from trying or playing from a canon. Any fandom big enough to have a ton of crazies is also big enough to avoid most of them while enjoying it.

As far as I know the most you could accuse her of doing is transforming Winry into a possessive whiny person unable to wait to get what she wants and who emotionally abuses whoever is paired with her (granted it has only been one character officially so far). Also makes her an hypocrite and fails to see why someone would think all of that about her "perfect Winry".

So basically nothing too bad as she's easy to ignore since she rarely tags outside her circle and no one forces anyone to read her character's threads. Though I think that she's a jerk OOCly as I've heard some people complaining about how she ignores anyone's preferences/wishes if they go against what she wants to do with her character and force her way to get it.

Typical retard logic. Congratulations: You are officially retarded. You also fail logic forever.

Scientifically, everything can be a trigger. Everything, including rubber ducks. For different people.

Yes, people who have six million triggers are about as retarded as you, granted. Thing is, people that have weird triggers can still have them. It's how the human mind works. It's really not rocket science.

Ever did something a lot while listening to a particular song? Listen to this song right now. You'll be reminded of the activity you did there. That is, essentially, how a trigger works. It connects an experience to a memory. And if this is a particularly traumatic memory, we describe this as a trigger.

It can really be anything. Everything can be a trigger.

I know, facts don't work for you people, since you want to be ~*~edgy~*~ and so ~*~rebellious~*~.

stupid shit a.k.a. you

That whole story reads like bad self-insert 'no, it's not self-insert!' fanfiction, complete with pointless dialect.

Ok this is gonna sound bad, but fuck it, hate meme! But I feel fucking bad for her girl/boy/whateverfriend when she gets a new one because she becomes so intensely "This is me and -name-!" and ends up tumblr posting fifty million pictures from various things ranging from shitty shoujo stuff (unrealistic!) to shitty porn (more unrealistic!) to having all their characters together (unsure? just saw one mention of it really) and it's just...

I can kinda see why she keeps getting dumped?

(Anonymous) 2012-05-22 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
good luck avoiding them, that's the big clique you have to be accepted by if you want any CR.

The voice I heard when reading this was in a Texan drawl.

Am I doing it right?

I hate people who character highlander. I have no problem with people who feel confident in how they RP, but people who do this tend to be egotistical fucks who are just a step away from being a soulbonder.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-22 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
More or less. I'm actually played two of the characters listed up there, as well, in that game.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-22 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like you're butthurt from being called out. Either that or you have time to waste. Nothing productive to say? Then get out.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-22 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Muns: Basically, my standards are, "could this person hurt me or make me uncomfortable?" If anon accuses them of being flaky or playing a stupid ship or two, I'll give them a shot. But if there's proof of them creeping, acting like an asshole or a psycho to their friends, or blurring the IC/OOC divide, I' going to avoid them.

Games: Either there has to be a megaton of wank that's impossible to avoid or strong proof of mod fuckery. Proof is pretty important to me in this case, because you never know if someone dropping vague hints is just some butthurt baby who got rejected or something.

Fandoms: Every fandom has its problems, so unless the canon personally skeeves me out, I don't avoid people based on it. I might avoid certain casts though if they're assholes, though

no, but if you have some yogurt or a bagel that'd be nice. I missed breakfast this morning and I'm pretty hungry.
