It's one of those games where you either get a good hold on cr or just have problems forever. I wouldn't say it's cliquey, but depending on tagging style and character choice I've seen extremes on the spectrum.

Is there any... pattern to this? I'm thinking of apping.

I heard it's pretty shitty to new players.

A lot of people "hear" this but I'm just wondering where it came from. I just got in two app cycles ago and have experienced no problems, and every intro post from this cycle has had threads with several people.

despite having an outgoing character i had this problem. i don't find it so bad but most of the time i only get friends tagging me back when i make a post.

It's pretty bad at times, hope you know some people going in.

MORE INFO?

Having a cast really does help, but that applies to every game ever. Also having good contact with your character's family members and them being active in the game. Even outgoing characters can struggle because a lot of the posts in mayfield are redundant intro wise 95% of the time. During events, most people already plot certain things so making new CR is pretty hard during these times. There are just so many events that making new CR can be hard.

Best thing to do? If you're going to be a lone canon character, have that character be active or engaging within their family cr. Talk to the players in that family and communication is key. Some casts are highly connected on plurk while others are looser. Expect to work harder as a lone canon warrior to build a foundation of good cr. In the end it will pay off amazingly since cr in mayfield can be amazing. Don't app into this game if you do not have enough time to dedicate setting up that foundation of cr if you're apping alone canon warrior.

Now with casts, stay connected to other castmates and maybe see if the character you app can be placed within a house of a castmate.

TL;DR:
1) communication with fake family + castmates (if there are any)
2) try to have your character be placed in an active family
3) make a strong effort to build a good foundation of cr early on

and what if people still won't tag you

what if your "family" tags each other and ignores you

got any rules for that circumstance because I've seen it happen more than once

This seems to be a common problem in game.

It's even worse if your family is inactive. Been in game for over a year and not once have I been randomized into an active household whenever I apped. People complain about appers picking ahead of time where to place their character, but it's because of things like this that it happens. Some events pretty much require household interaction and if you don't have an active house then you're out of luck.

Find a new house.

I've seen people re-app for housing changes without having to drop (like canon updating, only with housing).
