i don't play live action characters, idiot. i'm talking about female characters from shows like k-on, etc, where they are just there to act childish because it's moe. you can make a feminist argument all you want, but that's just you projecting western values onto a different culture. the girls in madoka, i'll grant you, because there is more to the show beyond the moe look. but don't go trying to tell me that uguu~ girls who need to be taken care of by other people all the time are feminist.

like they're moe~ and pretty much just there to make jokes but I don't remember any really pandering jokes? it was more just basic dumb person/smart person japanese jokes

anyway even ignoring that that's a miniority of anime. i mean it was really popular a few yeas ago and has been around since, idk, Love Hina maybe, probably earlier in a more toned-down way (not 'better', just subtler, which arguably might be even worse) but for every super-moe anime i could probably name one that has decent female characters and one that is actually pretty feminist. Not all of them will be good shows, of course, but still.
