Got blocked off before having the chance to save any. As far as I remember, she/he/it went offtrack when someone pointed out her OCs being rejected from games for fetishizing trans and genderqueer among other things or something.

as much as i think tally is a self-centred tumblr sjw attention whore, they weren't the only one calling out disgusting behavior what it is, but they did do it really fucking badly. go figure, it's tally.

basically, the original plurk was made by a bunch of non-rp types that somewhere along the lines crossed over with an rp plurk. the first comment about the transwoman (whose photograph was posted as the main body of the original plurk) was "i'd fuck her if she didn't have a dick."

outrage ensued. people who pointed out the disgusting behavior to start with were blocked, more fucked up talk about women's bodies, trans* ability to pass, how masculine or feminine someone's voice should or shouldn't be, and whether people found this transwoman suitably hot or not. this is all okay bcuz some of the people engaging in the judgment were lesbians or asexual, which means degrading behavior being passed off as complimenting is totes okay.

tally eventually shows up and quotes every tumblr trans* sjw line in the book at these morons and makes the whole thing worse. tally's ocs get flung into the mix with impromptu critting and it was all just a fucking mess.

the original plurker then turned their plurk to friends only and everything stopped shy of 1000 comments.

tl;dr: the plurk itself was gross, the people who thought they were doing a good thing talking about this woman in degrading terms were gross, tally's ally work was gross.

Perfect retelling.

I kind of sat on my hands when that plurk came up on my flist because jesus fucking christ was it awful and I don't know what possessed my friend to replurk it. But no matter who you are or how well-educated, well-read and socially involved you are on this topic, you can't go into a frontpage plurk that's been widely distributed all over the fucking place, with that kind of commentary, and expect to get anywhere in a discussion about their shitty, transphobic behaviour. Plurk itself is such a poor platform for that even before you're talking about wide circulation or people who aren't as informed or socially aware as they think they are.

End result, it was a bunch of lowest-common-denominators talking about shit they didn't have a clue about.

tbh the person on my timeline who replurked it probably did it because they, like the idiots in the plurk, thought being like "omg a trans* people actually came out hot and passable, woo yeah!" was actually acceptable and not a form of objectifying women in general. the person on my timeline has a head full of sparkles and cotton-candy so it's not unlike them to just not see fucked behavior when its pinging away constantly on their timeline for four hours straight because it's ~complimenting~.

personally, i do consider myself not only well-educated, read and involved on the topic but personally invested too and i saw that plurk and just knew it wasn't worth the time of day, or my online reputation, to speak into a vacuum of shitty behavior like that where not a single one of them wanted to hear they were being disgusting or understand why it was disgusting.

you're totally right though that it was just a lot of people talking about shit they don't know anything about and then trying to convince the other side that they know a lot about it.

there's so much that pissed me the fuck off about that plurk and now i'm all pissed again. i need a smoke. jfc.

this. whats even more annoying is that when I talked about it on my own plurk and mentioning the grossness of the most vile things that had been said, some people from my timeline jumped up and said that ~~*~~oh but they apologize for that ~~*~~

that's not an apology when you ban someone for pointing out their bullshit, especially when it is about objectifying someone, no matter the gender or the sex they are in. not to mention they continue to do the bullshit anyway.
