I am going to delete all the dumb, aspergers worthy discussion threads.

this is not the place for talking about butts and farts and shrimp. take that to your plurk or rpanons.

also, to anyone in that plurk because i know you're furiously f5ing this meme and shlicking to the idea of being namedropped, maybe you should stop blaming the hate meme and start blaming the two-faced bitches you associate with who leak your private shit.

hth, mouthbreathing motherfuckers.

I'm not saying it's excuse. I want to know what's the critic they have for Amaterasu. We don't get much from her in the games outside being a hero saving people.

As someone who plays Amaterasu in a different game, there's a lot more to her than what's just seen. You've gotta be able to pick up on the little hints - as well as take in what the characters say of her - to be able to piece things together about her personality and behavior.

It also doesn't really hurt to do research about the actual goddess, too, and draw things about her from there. History, behavior, personality, etc.

I've been meaning to leave VG crit, though. I just have to go back and re-read things to be able to actually work everything that I want to correctly.

Although using actually mythology is an excellent idea, they aren't obliged to do that. As long as what you do with a character doesn't contradict canon and it's IC, the rest is optional.

Please, tell me what it's that "lot more". Not sarcastic, it's an honest question, because I love the videogame and if we can help a fellow mun with critic, the better. But with Amaterasu what I remember is a doggy with mother and hero complex, the rest is up to you. You said there are more hints, I'm all ears so I can understand the character better.

While they aren't obliged to do any research or use mythology as some extra footing for Amaterasu, it...would actually be smart of them to at least look up facts about her. Mainly because she's a central figure to the religion and it seems kind of ignorant to not at least do some research on both the religion and the goddess herself.

But, getting to the point of the matter:

Amaterasu has a tendency to be rather lazy and gluttonous. The former of which is shown when she falls asleep after Sakuya revives her spirit in a corporeal form, when Waka is met for the first time (she falls asleep during his blabbering) as well as while the Spider Queen is talking away as well. The latter is really just dealing with with how you can upgrade her Astral Pouch and fill it with so much food.

She doesn't like to bathe - one of the nicknames Issun gives her being "No Bath Ammy" - and she doesn't seem too fond of water in general. I mainly father the non-fondness from the fact that she'll drown if she swims in it too long. Well, sans that cutscene after the sunken ship in which Rao's chest was more or less a flotation device.

She also has a very competitive spirit and this comes out during the (optional) races against NPCs.

She's also really playful too! She loves being pet and showered with attention. You can use her brush techniques to either have people come and give her pets/hugs/scratches or use them to mess around with people. You can also have her screw with the Oina by using the Bloom technique on them and force them to change between their human and wolf forms. She also bats around Issun after meeting Kabegami, playing with the Wall God before getting down to business, which shows her more playful side.

And while she may be a mother, she uses tough love (read: head butts) to make kids stop crying and get their act together.

There's some more but I'm kind of blanking on it at the moment. It's been a long day and I am currently dealing with a loud household and screaming children. But I hope that some of the things that I've said help out a little.

Yes, it helped a lot, and I can see your point better, thank you.

On the "lazy" part, I've seen it more like boredom, but it's also a fair interpretation. The bathing and the competitive spirit - well, those are very specific situations and I haven't stalked her *that* much to tell.

But she's very playful with my characters when they play with her doggy form, and the muses that considered her a momma figure have been lectured once or twice.

There's also the theory that some of those characteristics are dominant only in her doggy form, but indeed is a bit late to start a discussion on it and I can see you indeed have good points to make some criticism. Good luck with the household!
