I didn't say anything about action scenes. If you can't be bothered to play out stuff that makes sense for the game's setting and only play out incongruous slice-of-life then you are in fact being an asshole.

There's no excuse whatsoever for playing out shit that completely breaks the game's atmosphere. You don't have to write a lot of action scenes to play out horror-appropriate threads in a horror game, for example; you could concentrate on exploring your character's deteriorating mental state from being trapped in a horrific setting and go heavy on the deranged introspective, for example.
