I am going to delete all the dumb, aspergers worthy discussion threads.

this is not the place for talking about butts and farts and shrimp. take that to your plurk or rpanons.

i can deal with taciturn characters. but "..." or "[he nods]" is not a response. i apped to aather cause it looked really great, and i love team games, but the majority of fucking cfud characters ruined it. i've played quiet characters before, i get it. but just throw me a bone, for christ's sake.

if you need to see the inner thoughts of the character you're rping with in order to reply then you're godmoding. cfud just has a style where inner thoughts aren't written in tags and are instead talked about oocly in irc or plurk or whatever if they're interesting.

no i'm not saying they need to write out all their inner thoughts or w/e. just don't give me shit like "..." because that will never be an ok tag.

what about writing some narrative? even if a character is responding silently, the tag could include something about how they look. does the character look uncomfortable? at ease? straight-faced? bored? even if the player is using the icon with the expression, it's still helpful to have some words to go with it. people can interpret icons in different ways sometimes.

this way, you don't have to show inner thoughts. a little bit of narrative to along with a "..." tag is just there to keep the flow of the thread going, imo. there's no real harm to it.

No one said anything about reading the character's minds, it's more about setting the tone for the conversation. Even if all you do is tell me that your character seems troubled or that there's a faraway smile on his face, that gives me a lot more to work with than three dots. Like the above anon said, "..." is a bullshit tag that has nothing to do with ~writing style~.

"..." is an exaggeration. Practically no one in any CFUD-related game does that with any frequency, and people who do are seen as problems even within the games themselves, or constantly apologise for having taciturn characters.

What there is that is different is a tendency to use less description in tags and that really is just a difference in playing style. For example, I'd never use "seems troubled" or "has a faraway smile" because to me both of those look like lazily fishing for a certain response rather than actually playing the thing you want to describe. If my character is troubled then I should be able to indicate that with their expression (icons) and their words, and I should be able to find an icon that looks like my idea of a "faraway" smile as well, otherwise it just looks like shorthand for "hey my character is being wistful and thinking about things that aren't there, you should ask them about it!".

they also use icons for expressions and physical reactions rather than writing it out. you can react to that too.

If you hate it enough to complain in a hate meme, you can always drop and make room for someone new.

Ooor you idiots can put some actual effort into your tags instead of kneejerk rejecting all the people who disagree with you.

if op's not happy with the game's style he's better off going somewhere else, a whole game isn't going to change for one person, and the queue is still pretty big despite the introduction of new teams.

Original anon here, and pretty much what this anon said. If he's getting this worked up about disliking the game, it's obviously just not working out for him, and there's no point taking up space in a capped game you apparently hate.
