Man, let's go even more specific than that. Sonic fandom, not necessarily just the furry side. Goddamn.

Homestuck and ATLA are pretty extreme too, Tumblr-side. All the YGO fandom does over there is endlessly repost the same 20 bits of fanart over and over. I've seen occasional canon interp. clashes but they're usually between the people who actually know the canon and the people who uh. Don't. So it's not even much of a debate.

Yeah, the Sonic fandom's definitely worse, from what I've heard. And ATLA fans are much worse when it comes to shipping, in my experience.

The YGO fandom on Tumblr doesn't do much, I'll agree with you there, it's just the usual fandom drama. Oh no, LK stole!!! someone's shitty, unoriginal meme. Oh no, there's a gossip blog that people are dumb enough to send angry asks to because it's not like that's the point of a drama blog at all. Oh no, someone submitted a mean confession to a confession blog that wasn't all asspats and cozies.

Yeah, ATLA's basically all shipping wank, all the time. Besides the occasional obvious troll, have we had any significant widespread shipping wank since the early days of DM? Everyone I know ships pretty much everything to varying degrees.

The only thing that surprises me about the LK wank is how people are always taken aback when he incorporates something into TAS that's been around the fandom/general internet for a while, as if this hasn't been the case from the very beginning. It's all the oldest of news by now. And yeah, those blogs? Par for the course for any fandom on Tumblr, pretty much. They set the stage for drama and so drama happens. Big deal.

I really don't get the obsession some people seem to have with regards to YGO and thinking it's the One Wank to Rule Them All. Even less so why they're compelled to swoop in and go on about how terrible the fandom is whenever anything dumb happens. It happens every single time, without fail.

Is there even much shipping wank in the GX/5Ds/Zexal fandoms? I don't recall hearing about much Zexal drama and I never got involved in the other two fandoms.

People are just overprotective of "their" stupid memes, even though it's not like LK's claiming to have made all of them up himself anyway. As far as I know, anyway.

It's probably just people taking it way too seriously because THIS IS A SERIES ABOUT FRIENDSHIP, YOU GUYS! Because MLP fans don't wank all over each other either, right?

I can only assume LK continues to work on TAS because he enjoys it more than it winds up being stressful to him. He probably gets a lot more flack than that for what "his fandom" has done to the rest of the fandom. Because LK is controlling the TAS fandom like marionettes on a string, or something. And we all know how much this fandom hates fans enjoying things they like in a way they like, and that they should stop liking things everyone else (read: a small handful of people) don't like.

There's about as much shipping wank in the spinoff fandoms as there is in DM. A small portion of every fandom likes to flaunt the sticks up their ass about the ships or orientations they do and don't like, but everyone else either ships everything or is willing to live and let live about it. Avatar, Naruto, Bleach, and probably even Pokemon have much more vicious shipping wars.

I agree that bronies are pretty far down in the barrel of shitty groups in fandom, though. Yugioh doesn't even come close.

Admittedly, TAS fans can be pretty annoying at times, but LK definitely isn't at fault for that. And I wouldn't blame him if he was afraid of quitting because of the backlash that he'd get for it. There are already plenty of people that piss and whine because he doesn't shit out new episodes as often as he used to.

5D's? Some people get really uptight about the joke ships as if saying Yusei/his D-Wheel is the only canon ship is grievously offensive, but outside of ff.net Faithshippers I can't think of anything.

Being over-protective of a meme is pretty dumb, and I've never heard him say anything about his content being 100% original.

Can I just say that I really hate that tagline? As if a show's content has anything to do with how the fandom behaves or if "FRIENDSHIP YOU GUYS FRIENDSHIP" actually means anything at all. If that's the case, no shonen anime fandom would ever have wank. YGO is - again - not unique with the power of friendship stuff.
