I just asked my mom (she's been a nurse forever) about what would happen in this situation (somebody threatens suicide, somebody calls the police, it's a false alarm) and the answer is: they ask if they need psychiatric help. If the answer is yes/unsure/upset, they take them to the hospital.

Otherwise? Nothing. It happens all the time. So don't worry about the consequences.

This entire wank is Renne wanking on her own.

Asexuality only, no whoremongering, final destination!

Generally, the cops will go perform what's called a "welfare check". If when they arrive at the scene they see any signs that the person has harmed themselves or is incapacitated, they'll summon paramedics to deal with it. Depending on where she lives, the laws could differ pretty dramatically. In a lot of places, hospitals are allowed to hold someone for a 72 hour evaluation period. The person will be seen by psychologists, and if it's determined that they're a threat to themselves, a judge can order them committed involuntarily.

If the cops arrive and nothing has happened, whoever makes the call is NOT going to get in trouble with direct evidence that suicide was threatened, which would be the Plurk or chat log where it took place. It's worth doing if for no other reason than it could give her a serious wake-up call that when you say this kind of shit, it has serious consequences, such as police at your house and the chance that you could wind up committed, which frankly it seems like she needs to be.

I've been wondering this, too, anon.

Re: ETA

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Because nobody else imported their journal with the entries included and then did nothing else with it. You don't look any less pathetic for caring this much about an LJ player from SWS.

No, thanks, I prefer an actual couple of adults that are actually together.

Homestuck? Nnnope.

Re: NECKBEARD CANONS

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
What canon are you talking about, is there an anime with adult women actually together because I need to watch that now.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
As a comic fan, nah. Those are far, far worse than otaku. Otaku generally don't argue that female characters are better of dead and that rape should be used more often as a plot element.

Aww, look, somebody's butthurt that their grudgewank is going over like a lead balloon. If you want people licking your butthole, you should keep this to your Plurk. hth

Re: ETA

then fucking post them, bitch. Right now all I see is a link to a decently civil HMD and a whole shitload of sws threads.

I don't care about the menz, either, though. I'm lesbian.

I care about the womenz. in other words, not you.

PS: You seem to be very familiar with hugpillows. Maybe you should hide your kawaii supernatural pillows better next time.

so what are your opinions on "neckbeard" then

Re: TOUHOU PROJECT.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I'm part of a 8-women group that cosplays Touhou a lot. We meet a lot of female Touhou fans at cons. Touhou is actually quite appealing to women.

...Well, those of us that get past the crayon-10-year-old level canon drawings.

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
oh nooo someone's venting on acj that's just so horrible!! this belongs in rpanons because it doesn't seem like you HATE this person. sheesh, take it with two cents. they're probably mad and thought being anon and venting would help them out with being upset. unless they're already making plurks and telling all their friends about this issue, in which they're just fishing for asspats. if you ask me, that they don't actually care why anyone's upset with them is a total lie. or they're just acting brave in hopes that it'll get the wankers to stop. seen it before, but i don't think it works because usually it makes others more upset. no one here is NOT immune to wank or wouldn't be upset with anons wanking on them, and it's pretty stupid if you actually believe that they don't care.

although if people are continuing to wank about them, there's probably a point in time where someone really doesn't care- like how Murder and Mike are completely oblivious and don't tolerate as so much of others simply TELLING them they don't want any CR or OOC interaction, to boot (and I know a few brave others have already, and with Mike he just reports you for bullying). half the time i browse this place i find it amusing but don't end up caring. if you whiteknighted them and they know that you did, why the hell are you p/aly venting about it here on acj and not telling them to your face their "put on a brave act" is making you doubt their friendliness? what did they do, anyways?

Re: OP of this comment

Yeah, I know it's kind of risky but I'm trying to keep this game as fun and wank-free as possible and from my limited experience with her as well as the evidence here, I'm worried that wouldn't be possible with her in the game. If she were showing signs of improvement, I would give her a chance, but it's not really looking like she is.

I still have time to think on the issue and once I have more concrete comod(s) I'll discuss it with them, but that's what I'm thinking right now. And this is still all assuming she does app; she might not.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hang on. I also know for a fact that she never said she would close the game if she dropped her OC. She was nothing but a mod and NPC player in the very beginning of the game too. She didn't pick up a PC until I think five or six months into it. So she could keep on modding the game even if she dropped all of her characters. And it was my understanding from talking to her that if it ever becomes too much of a strain on her time its her plan to drop her PCs and keep on modding.

I admit I don't know her IRL, but we do talk a lot on plurk. I'm pretty sure she'd be more upset to know that people were tagging her when they didn't want to then she would about having to drop a character due to lack of interest.

Re: MAYFIELD

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Mayfield has amazing events. Above anon mentioned before but the last horror event was great with participating characters getting customized effects. They obviously put a lot of work into their events and it shows.

The mod clique is very unorganized and inconsistent. If you have a question a few hours after an event is up, they won't answer it. Housing mix ups happen and it takes forever to get sorted. The lists are updated but riddled with mistakes (players being on warned lists for week, houses with dropped members, etc).

As for the player base... When there isn't an event, the game feels very domestic instead of horror. A lot of the characters have become placent for one reason or another. No one is trying to escape or investigate the town anymore. I can't blame them though because it's been awhile since they've been given a bone. Everything is very passive and players aren't taking active roles anymore. I think there used to be a resistance movement but it fell apart.

Basically everyone dropped the ball and is more concerned with their own thing than the game as a whole.

Re: WEREWOLF-HACKER

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
only problem i have with them are the shitty icons they use, fucking mspaint bitches, but nothing else. long as they don't bother the fuck out of me unlike some wankers here they're out of my radar.

Re: OP of this comment

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, I would never ban someone just because they've been namedropped once or twice (hell, I've been dropped myself, though the majority of the comments were "who?" lol). But there's a few I'm wary of if they join or app, because while wank and drama are unavoidable I want to try to keep the game as "safe" as I can for my players. I want it to be laidback and fun! What Tally and people like her do is not laidback and fun. :(

Re: NECKBEARD CANONS

(Anonymous) 2012-06-04 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
So, denying that women have agency to justify bashing something is totally feminist now? Okay.

Nearly all canons that are attacked for "neckbeard" don't have infantiliued female characters, but female characters with agency, dreams, and hopes, which usually are what they end up suceeding at during the plot.

Touhou? No Infantilization *anywhere* - the opposite, the entire canon is about women with agency clashing violently. Their respective agency is what makes them clash.
Atelier? These games are precisely about women with agency suceeding at their dream in life, usually becoming important and respected figures in their respective countries, often even against the wishes of their parents (which is a big deal in japan, and one of the reason these games have so many female fans. In the one I'm playing. Meruru tells her father to piss off right at the beginning of the game when he tries to stop her from becoming an alchemist, so he ends up caving in to her. Right now, she's responsible for the development of the country).
Rinne no Lagragne? Only a complete idiot could claim that the female characters in there have no agency - even the one that starts out with none and is dependent on a male character drops that, oh, after 2-3 episodes after she appears, and the heroine has more agency than most male leads in western TV series.
Even Nanoha doesn't have this infantilization - the characters grow up and get careers in the friggin military, and live out a relationship that STILL makes many otaku angry, despite it only being subtly hinted at.

At this point, it seems "infantilized" is just a buzzword. It barely happens in canons that are RPed in DW RP, yet f/f bashers act as if it's a common thing. It's not.

There are canons that do this. I haven't seen them getting RPed from yet, and I'm very glad for that. So why do we have to pretend that magically, all canons with F/F somehow suffer from this, even when it's clearly not the case?
