GLEE. God damn it. I RP as a form of escapism. I could not be farther from wanting HIGH SCHOOL BULLSHIT rammed down my throat. Also I'm tired of seeing their sorry excuses for characters plastered all over RP communities. Give it up, people, high school was never cool.
I hate it for the simple fact that almost every single person I've met who likes/watches Glee is incapable of shutting the fuck up about it. They're constantly talking about the characters, and their ships, and the music, and about whichever band/artist they're suddenly a huge fan of because Glee covered them this week, and the fic they're writing, and spamming .gifs and ON AND ON AND ON. I liked Journey before Glee got ahold of them; now if I never hear "Don't Stop Believing" for the rest of my life it'll be too soon.
Even people who hate this season continue to watch it so they can complain about how very upset and offended they are and how they hate the direction the show has taken. I don't even LOOK for the wank, it comes to me by proxy because I have a few people on my various f-lists who are really into it.
Season one was fun, season two was so terrible I skipped about half of it. Never gave three a chance, pretty happy with that. I just got to the point where I couldn't fucking stand Rachel anymore, I have never seen a less appealing character in my life and I've read Ctrl Alt Delete. How is the pretty downtrodden heroine of the story the girl who throws temper tantrums, sends better singers to crack houses out of jealousy, lies and manipulates and breaks down at the slightest twitch of adversity, and still gets all the big singing parts despite having nothing more than that generic Disney pop star presence? My ass she's more talented than Mercedes or Santana.
And I guess we're supposed to like Finn too, never figured out why.
I really do feel like the characterization is incredibly weak in the Glee roleplaying fandom, but to be fair it is kind of the show's fault.
I really wish people would stop being shocked when they find out Glee is kind of tasteless. Yeah, its handling of some things is offensive. The only really progressive thing about the show is that it handles them at all.
Characterization itself is weird from season to season or even episode to episode. Are we supposed to despise Rachel or cheer for her? What sexual orientation is Santana this time around? Does Kurt really believe there's no such thing as a bisexual?
