The problem is every time a horror game opens it turns into slice-of-life almost immediately. Yes, there should be a period of getting familiar with surroundings and gamemates before throwing stuff at characters, but if it lasts 6+ months with no change in sight then yeah. I mad.

Just-arrived-and-been-dropped-in-a-lake or Help-I'm-being-chased-by-a-monster posts where the character ends up with 6 people arriving to save them in 6 different and conflicting ways.

I've never been able to figure out how to solve this. I generally let it go and vaguely consider it as "everyone helped the character in some way!" or something. But it still bugs me sometimes.

I've thought of leaving a tiny OOC note to let people know they can threadjack or hop into the rescue thread whenever they want, but would that work? Lately I've seen people express uncertainty when it comes to threadhopping, so do you think it'd just scare people off? 8|a

THIS FOREVER. Or hell just general "where the hell am I" intros where 6 people are telling you the exact. same. things. How many times do you have to thread "you arrived in X and nope there's no way home also beware the -fill in blank-"? I always feel rude (unless my character IS rude) to be like "lol yeah 5 people already said that" especially if it's someone in a later thread...

Just. Timeline stuff in general. I fear I overthink this shit sometimes.

having someone try to chime in and join your group/party for some activity or event at the very last second when you're all ready to go and had been talking about these plans for upwards of a week already

especially when they're the type who try to "take command" of a group be it ic or ooc and thus ruin any fun near-risky situations you were planning by being the hero and immediately fixing any possible trouble

if you wanted to get involved in this goddamn tell me when we're mulling over the plans not after the goddamn planning

not quite a pet peeve but I don't get the point of having reserves and app challenges.

doesn't allowing app challenges negate the point of reserving at all? it's just a notification for the mods that X is going to app Y. which is fine but it's not a reserve and they should use a different word.

it's like saying you can buy a ticket for a play only you might have to prove to the ticketmaster that you're more worthy to attend than this other person who wants that seat.

We get that you like to "put your characters through the wringer" and make them suffer because it makes them stronger or whatever. It just doesn't need to happen all the damn time. Especially not when it starts disrupting the fun of all your castmates because you want to have your pup go off a be a broody loner asshole for no reason again.

Just a general RP peeve which is actually my own damn fault BUT:

I hate how I never get to bed when I should because that's when everyone is actually on and tagging. My OWN fault ultimately but damn does it make me sad all the same.

Squatters. Why would you join a game and then completely ignore it except to announce a hiatus every other month and make the occasional post or log that you don't tag because the post/log itself already counts for ac?

People who complain all the time about never having any time to rp, but then not listen to a word of advice on how to help themselves prioritize. And then turn around and join even more games. Better yet, plurk about not having time and then immediately plurk again about a new game they are joining.
