THIS. I play with a couple of people who caused pretty big wankstorms a few years ago, but they realized what they did wrong, apologized, and fixed things and they haven't been namedropped since. If I mentioned them now no one would even know who they were because they've cleaned up their acts.

They're proof that wank doesn't stick unless the person being wanked on gives it a REASON to stick. If you fuck up but apologize and don't do it again, people don't give a shit and will forget about you in a couple of weeks.

As much as I think wank about issues can be a bit overwrought at times and we all know folks grudgewank over shit too much here and other places at times, there's some truth to this. Your only rep is your words and actions online, like you said. And if you're an asshat over and over again, someone's going to take note and warn others. That's just how it goes.

How a person handles wank reflects on them much more, than being namedropped, imo. Case in point, I have a friend who has been namedropped here and on anoncomm. They have been working to tackle the issues mentioned in a private, graceful way. They haven't kicked up a fuss about it. The only reason I even knew that they had been wanked on was because they came to me to ask for help on improving.

Wouldn't you know it, I haven't seen them mentioned at all, lately.
