I am going to delete all the dumb, aspergers worthy discussion threads.

this is not the place for talking about butts and farts and shrimp. take that to your plurk or rpanons.

oh god she was rejected? thank fucking god, thank you mods, thank you.

her reaction astounds and confuses me

i took a look at the rejection notice and it seemed like perfectly normal writing and characterization crit. and the thing that bugs me isn't that she's overreacting to an RP rejection (that's part of it, though); it's that everyone receives constructive crit in what they do, mainly in school or for your career. looking at the crit you receive, learning from it, and improving yourself because of it is how people get better at...anything. everything! if we didn't get that kind of feedback from everyone, we'd stagnate and wouldn't get anywhere.

i had a broadcasting teacher who was really big on this. being a giant hard-ass on everyone was how he was preparing us for real life and how people in the business would actually react to the quality of work we did. the harsher he was, the more we improved and the more prepared we were. it was a public service.

she wouldn't have lasted a second. she would have dropped his classes after a couple of days because he was being real. if she reacts that badly to crit that she received for something she does as a hobby, for fun, how is she going to react when it comes to stuff for work or school? this goes for a lot of other RPers too, mind you, but jesus christ that's mind boggling to me.

she doesn't need someone to be "nice" to her. she needs to learn how to not take general crit personally.

i just can't understand it...

She cried for hours because she got removed from a game... through AC?

ok then

That got me, too. "I failed to meet the bare minimum requirement for activity from my game fully knowing the consequences, and then I was forced to face the consequences."

I'd really hate to see what this person does when their electricity gets cut off for failure to pay a bill. Cry in the dark for hours, I guess?

i was wondering why i missed that, so i read it again and it's her friend trying to give her advice

Dear Alphie's friend, stop giving her advice, please.

The thing is, people have never given her criticism because they know she has anxiety issues. From what I've seen Alphie's friends go through three stages:

(1) They've just met her. She's pretty perky and cool! She touches faces and butts and does neat cosplays! Of course she has some personal plurks and problems, but doesn't everyone?
(2) Uhhhhhhhhhh. This chica has some serious issues. They wish they could help her. They try to be supportive and send the emotes she seems so badly dependent upon.
(3) Wow. This poor chick is self-sabotaging and messed up as hell. At this stage one disconnects entirely, either in terms of caring or through defriending.

So see, (1) doesn't see reason for crit, (2) doesn't want to hurt her with crit, and (3) doesn't give a shit anymore about crit.

+ 1

totally what i went through complete with the defriending
still feel bad for her because she does have serious issues that get in the way of her ever improving

Oh man. Alphie, the fact that you flip a bitch over the smallest thing into some sort of self-deprecating, give me ass-pats plurk, is why you never hear crit. You turn your ears off to it and live in your world where you're a wonderful person. The people that don't want to put up with your shit remove you and prefer to ignore you. We have better things to do than respond to cries of help when all you want is attention and validation of your victim complex.

And maybe if you weren't known for playing Karkat like a weepy uke who wants to be beaten into submission by a big bad man, you would get into a game with standards.

She is so sad. I can't even take pleasure in her misery because of how sad and pitiful she is. How does she function in the real world, if she begins to get anxious and cry over being rejected from a game?
