I really hate Brittana as a pairing. It's pretty terrible.

I don't think it's the pairing's fault really. It's the fact that Glee has a really shitty group of writers (the new s3 ones especially) who don't know the meaning of fact-checking or character consistency. Because when Brittany's given the infantile treatment for the lulz, any sexual pairing with her is pretty terrible.

I'm actually really looking forward to this week's ep because from all the spoilers and leaked scenes that I've watched, it looks like a return to the s1!/Duets/Sexy/Rumors/Born This Way!Brittany that made most people ship and keep shipping Brittana in spite of all the other bullshit.

This right here is why Britanna squicks me out so bad. I'm glad to hear that the next ep might be better, though.

I'm curious, did you watch Saturday Night Glee-ver? Problems with Santana's characterization and problems with Flopson yet again writing a scene that potentially violates Santana's privacy (we'll never exactly know what the non-Tubbington bits of the tape were like, and only a few people actually reacted to it/her leaving some room for interpretation), Brittany was actually pretty intelligent and even scheming in that ep.

Like when she first starts doing all the "dumb" stuff to help Santana become (in)famous, there's something in the back of your mind setting off little warning bells because of the funny look she had on her face during Santana's monologue. And then it really does come to pass that she's working reverse psychology hardcore, with that snarky little cheek kiss and "just let me know how far you're willing to go for fame~" remark.

No, actually. I've only seen a few eps of Glee, and it feels like every time I try to give the show a shot it either features Kurt as a whiny brat or Brittany being weirdly childish. I just assumed that this was just how they always are.

This. Brit was a hell of a lot more fun for Artie and it feels like they just went this route to please fans.

But then the writers are supposedly really really bad so whatever? People have been overreacting to a lot of stuff lately too but that's SJW DW for you.

I'm the least SJW around and even I find a lot of the narrative choices Glee makes offensive tho.

I think "narrative choices" is a good way of putting it, honestly. It's not the subject matter itself that's inherently sacred and shouldn't be touched. It's the fact that Glee as a show is so fucking basic, the way it's been written ever since early s2 when these "after school special" type episodes REALLY started making an appearance, means that all you can ever expect when you hear Glee is tackling [problem of the week] is 45 minutes (and not even that much lbr) of contrived material where [said problem] is introduced and then neatly wrapped up by the end, never to be heard from again.

A character gets in a life-threatening accident and goes on hiatus for several weeks, leaving a serious cliff-hanger? Let's come back and barely spend 5 minutes addressing what happens to this character but spend every other fucking second to a character that doesn't need half of the screentime/solos he gets. Let's introduce his family and make that the focus of the episode, when we haven't met so many other character's far more relevant family members.

A major character experiences bullying that drives him to attempt suicide? Episode ends and the character is never heard from again. Oh but hey, guess WHICH character is the one to sing the song the scene is set to, whose only IC context for singing is that they think it might be a good song to use (nevermind that it's a solo for himself) at a future competition?

I'm surprised as fuck they left the Beiste storyline open to be continued, honestly. But let's not even talk about that disaster of an episode, because I don't really need to be reminded that they spent the whole episode lecturing the female characters about making light of domestic violence (in a scene they incidentally had to shoehorn in, forcing characters to be OOC to start off this plot in the first place) and have the boys too busy going off and having "bro" scenes to help a fellow "bro" graduate. But do the boys learn anything about DV? Do the girls help a "sister" in a similar situation out? ... Do the girls ever have any private group scenes that don't REVOLVE around the boys? Does the boy in this situation STILL fail but STILL graduate while the girl was never even given a chance to improve and assumedly just fails with no lip service given to the issue 'til the last possible second?

Yeah, I mad. This show is such a misogynistic piece of crap sometimes, but fortunately I think most rp'ers understand that.

Also LOL at you saying Artie was better when actually that was the time period when Brittany was at her MOST infantile? And Artie himself played into that by continuously treating her like one.

At the very least, Santana out of all the characters treats Brittany like a normal person.
