I stopped reading it soon after when Itachi became a redeemable villain. Everything I have heard about it since makes me believe that one day I should make good friends with a large bottle of alcohol and go to town finishing off the manga. Preferably once the manga itself is done.

That was like, Kishimoto's crown jewel of stupid. There was a lot of stupid before, and there's been plenty since, but he's yet to and likely never will top the sheer idiocy that is the Itachi Retcon.

The only people who 'saw it coming' were Itachi fans who were thinking with their genitals. Nobody else saw it coming because it would be stupid as hell. And then it happened and oh look, it really WAS stupid as hell!

That was probably what pissed me off the most. "Itachi is secretly a good guy!" was the mark of a deluded fangirl. But no, he's pretty so he needs to be secretly a good guy.

The aftermath of the Sasuke and Itachi fight was indeed the turning point into the shitter for the manga; Nagato completely negating the point of the konoha destruction arc was just the manga looping back around so it could jump the shark all over again.

I'm honestly sick of the Uchiha fixation this manga has. Sasuke went from being troubled and mildly sympathetic to completely nonsensical and batshit, and Itachi went from a threatening villain to an obnoxiously godmody zombie Jesus Stu DESPITE THAT WHOLE CLAN MURDER THING.

I also despise the zombie revival crap in the current arc in general for completely undermining a lot of dramatic and satisfying character deaths and making villains that were tough and legitimate threats during their moments in the sun into cannon fodder jokes.

Fuck clan murder, that could possibly be justified, but there is no possible justification for what he did to Sasuke. He didn't just kill their family, but mind-raped him with subjective-twenty-four hours worth of visions of him doing it TWICE, and went out of his way to turn him into Guts from Berserk. Which means ruining his life in every possible way.

And he get lauded as this GREAT BROTHER for doing it? Fuck, Kishimoto has a warped sense of morality.
