I am going to delete all the dumb, aspergers worthy discussion threads.
this is not the place for talking about butts and farts and shrimp. take that to your plurk or rpanons.

Yeah go back to whiteknighting your creepy friend.
a hero to us all
Re: 1/2
I feel for the people who've gotten their private info leaked, I do because that's happened to me, but at the same time, I hope they learned the lesson that nothing on the internet is private, like I did. RP acquaintances aren't your besties.
Whatever, I appreciate this place. It's a needed outlet as it keeps creepers and flakes and people who deserve their shitty behavior called out accountable. No asspats given, which if there's as many social anxiety sufferers as some people claim to be, it's public service.
Re: 1/2
Eh, sticking to what I said still. I'm tired of social anxiety and mental conditions being the du jour excuse in the RPing world.

Just because the stuff we do takes place over the internet doesn't mean that the rules are any different. You still have a reputation. It's still your job to cultivate it. Being a shitty person is still being a shitty person - and yes, there are still misunderstandings, but when you get a bunch of people together they're going to share their experiences as they remember them. That's what communication is for, not having to reinvent the wheel...or, in this case, re-encounter the badly behaved RPer.
Oversharing is an endemic bad habit around here. To some extent, that's fine, that's permissible in this kind of environment. But it's gotten to the point where it's like people forget how to handle other people the minute they sit down at the computer. Would you tell this to these people if you were speaking to them face-to-face? No? Don't do it. There's a huge difference between having a friendly hobby relationship with someone and trusting them to keep potentially sensitive opinions secret. Sharing a hobby doesn't make us all happy fuzzy biffles who can dismiss any conflict in the interest of "pretendy funtimes". OOCA = OOCC.

(Anonymous) 2012-05-09 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)The thing is that everyone acknowledges undeserved asspats and enabling = bad, but a lot of RPers want them anyway. The problem comes when their RP buddies feed into that and encourage it by giving them what they want. That's really where the troubles begin, rather than call their friend out, they whiteknight and asspat, making the situation even worse. Things are only going to improve when RPers stop encouraging or excusing bad behavior among their RP buddies.

Agreeing with everything you've just said.
