I hate that, as a mod, I'm expected to devote every second to the game, and if I don't give players exactly what they want, at that exact second, I'm a terrible mod. I have a job. I have an apartment to pay rent for and groceries to buy. I devote plenty of time to modding already, but I'm not going to give up my job to please you entitled babies.

I see your point, but is it that difficult to pick up more co-mods? If you're busy IRL that's probably the best way to go.

The thing is, I'm not that busy IRL that I'm falling behind! Lists are updated, apps done in a very timely manner, etc. I'm just not catering to their every whim.

Thankfully, you don't mod actually good games. You can enjoy being in badly modded games that are mostly about the ego-stroking of app challenges.

Everyone else is in better games and actually has fun. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Yeah, this. I have yet to see an app challenge app that is even noticeably different in quality than the one challenged.

Not to mention: A better app wouldn't make a better player. Apps do a horrible job at actually showing if a person is going to be a good player. Apps do not show if a player is being wanky, apps don't show if a player drops threads, apps don't even check if you write ICly, apps don't show anything other than you being able to describe the character how he acts in canon.

Yep, this. I never had an issue about reservations. THis entire hubbub is just about homestuck/Hetalia players wanting their ~*~special needs~*~ acknowledged by games.

It's cute how whiny they get when they can't have that.

Players who come to whine on anoncomm and ACJ and talk about how we haven't done anything / didn't answer the questions the way they wanted to / posted something that came a day after as a surprise that ~inconvenienced them~ because OH NO their character has to actually DO SOMETHING to get what they want instead of magically being handed to them.

As a mod and being on acj myself, I don't mind the fact that they come and vent or whatnot, but if you're going to vent and try to call us bad mods when you don't tell us there's an issue then you're just trying to stir wank and we're less likely to give a shit about your whiny problems. If the players spent maybe one less hour giving kneejerk reactions and immediately spreading hate and just said "hey mods, we didn't like X, can we change things up some?", then THINGS WOULD BE A LOT BETTER.

This is not a new or original thought in any way, but since it's been happening to me a lot recently, I am so fucking tired of flaky-ass muns. If you join a game, fucking play. If you don't want to or can't play, fucking drop. Don't character squat for months and whine about how so-and-so's voice isn't strong but still sign up for/start plots that you will never follow through on. Don't OMG PROMISE that your activity will be SO MUCH BETTER when everyone knows it won't be. Don't plurk about how you just squeaked by AC, tee hee, you're soooo bad!

The problem is that Lulu's ilk completely disregards the presented possible relationship between the MC of a game and any given route guy. Basically, if you ship this kind of thing, you kind of have to accept that there's still a possibility of a hetero relationship, which they don't.

Propose they start paying you if they want you to treat it as a job.

I know it's a common complaint, but this is the hate meme, so I will rant about it. Basically: no, I'm not you or your co-mods, probably. Which is what sucks. That there's this automatic assumption that we have nothing going on besides the game we mod.

as another mod, i'd also like to add that having read through many apps for the same character by different players, it is usually not a matter of good app vs bad app, but of a good app vs a good app or a mediocre app vs a mediocre app. in which case, picking the one that gets it will more often than not result in someone whining about bias or unfairness etc etc etc.

also, app challenges usually lead to players trying to write the longest app because length = quality evidently, and fuck that shit. the only thing worse than reading a bunch of apps for the same character is reading a bunch of apps for the same character and having them steadily get longer and tl;dr until they're detailing why what the character has for breakfast is a driving factor in their personality.

but... those issues don't have anything to do with app challenges at all. those are things that can happen with any apper so why are you even bringing them up?
