Honestly, anon? Did you have fun at the con? Did you have fun with the characters you roleplayed? I wouldn't say it's entirely a waste if you enjoyed yourself.

Now, hopefully, if you decide to go to a con in the future or if you're still buying paids, you'll be a little more conscious of the amount of money you're spending and decide how much you're comfortable blowing on hobbies. A lot of people think spending your money on stuff that makes you happy is frivolous, but I'm of the opinion that making yourself happy, even if it means spending money on things you don't really need, is important. Just don't go overboard and budget, if you can.

Now back to your regularly scheduled hate.

When I think back to the con I realize that I took a gamble of flying out-of-state to stay in a hotel room with the people I RP'd with for three days. Some moments were fun, but most of the time I was left wading through a con that I had no idea of what was there or where everything was (I'm very bad at directions).

The paid-time? Sure at that moment they were good, but I was a stupid highschooler/late teen's girl that thought RP was her life and couldn't live without those extra icons or the edit button. I totally believe in that spending extra money on yourself for happiness is good (my counselor even told me that), but it's just those two things that if I didn't do/go to them then I would be okay with it and might not be in the situation I'm in now.

Don't be too hard on yourself, anon. Anything could have come up in those 3 years that you could have spent that money on. People can barely know where they'll be in six months, so you couldn't have known you would be here three years from then.

It's gone now, you can't change it, don't stress out over things in the past.
