i wouldn't say the leaf could do no wrong.

tobirama invented edo tensei and neglected to make sure it was in the right hands. hashirama gave out the tailed beasts and probably had some more general fuck ups too. the third hokage and his relationship with orochimaru led to his downfall and the leaf's disaster. minato chose naruto over the kyuubi, which then started to ravage the village. and, tsunade, while politically a great kage, has a lot to be desired when it comes to power and general effectiveness. her contributions as a kage are remarkable when one slowly looks at them, but, for some reason, the moment a woman takes the throne, the power of a kage suddenly becomes so much less important (root, the elders, etc.).

I think, from a Western point of view, they pretty much are. I don't claim to know all Eastern traditions, but some of them do have the distinction between the two, with reincarnation being another incarnation of the same being (as in, they are same person, new body) and rebirth meaning they've been reborn (same spiritual force -although not always called a soul here-, new body). Being reborn doesn't always make one the same person as before, whereas with reincarnation they pretty much are.

I've never worried about shit that I say ending up on here because I DON'T TALK SHIT ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE. It's amazing how those people are completely incapable of grasping that. Someone tried to grudgewank me here once and it never went anywhere because there's nothing TO wank about me.

Sorry, but if you end up being mentioned here repeatedly? It's for a reason. So far every single encounter I've had with people who get namedropped here on a regular basis has proven that they really are as bad as everyone says.

i'm down with it since i was raised with it, it worked for me, and it was never abusive. saying it's always abusive or that people who are ok with it are abusive is incorrect, just like saying a hand is never abusive is incorrect. that's all it boils down to really
