I hate it when someone approaches me to play out a smut thread between our characters but then they have their character play hard to get to a degree that completely stretches credulity.

Did you want to thread out smut or not asshole? Or are you trying to maneuver my character into raping yours even though that would be wildly OOC?

The same thing applies for ships; I hate when someone suggests we ship our characters and I expect this is going to be a mutual thing developing between the characters but they neglect to mention that what they really want to play out is some one-sided bullshit where my character moons after theirs forever and never gets anywhere.

Anyone who jumps down your throat for something like that need to step back and take a good look at themselves, then wonder if they're really better than the "bad people" they're attacking.

I've had far more intelligent and thought provoking conversations on some 4chan boards than I probably have in my entire RP career, but most RPers treat 4chan like it's just a bunch of racists (literally) circlejerking and anything that comes from there should be immediately thrown in the fire without looking back.

It's not ALL like that guys. Sure /a/ and /b/ are obviously bad but at least /a/ still has discussion threads, and the smaller boards are usually very decent.

But if you say you regularly visit 4chan well... You get the idea.

Just caught up on the wank from the past few weeks here. So this is a sort of general response:

THE INTERNET IS A SOCIAL GATHERING. SOCIAL RULES STILL APPLY.

Just because you feel more secure saying things because you're not face-to-face with the person you're addressing, you are not safe. Your actions still have social consequences. Your words are everything. Since you have nothing else on the Internet besides your actions and your words, those two things compose the entirety of your online social identity. Yes, people fuck up once in a while. Yes, the mistake is often tough to deal with. But in the end, because this is a social activity, you are judged based on your interaction.

Making one mistake? Forgivable. I've seen that, on this comm! Someone I know made a dumb mistake, found out here on ACJ, and got their shit together and apologized for the accidental offense. But doing the same creepy/annoying/infuriating thing over and over, with no intention to correct your behavior? You have no right to complain about gaining a shitty reputation, and having it laid out on ACJ so people can avoid anything from having to mute you on plurk for whining/ship pushing to getting harrassed, sexually or otherwise. ACJ showcases your reputation. If it's shitty, then maybe you should re-evaluate what you're doing to make it so bad.

Plurk does not guarantee that it protects the information about yourself that you put on your own timeline, only the information you have on your account information. Believe it or not, you need to be fucking responsible about what you say on the Internet. And if you act creepy and/or are an asshole, anyone that comes here is perfectly within their rights to learn your name and avoid you like the plague.
